IMORTANT EMAIL FROM LA ROMANA RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION
Important Change to Fiesta Schedule
Dear all As many of you are aware the fiesta procession "desfile de moros y cristiano" was cancelled on Friday following the death of a participant on Thursday night. Following enquiries from some residents, I can confirm that there will be another parade tonight in the village, to replace the one cancelled on Friday. It would be really good if we can all show our support to the village by attending if possible. There are many versions of what happened on Thursday, but I feel it is appropriate and respectful to clarify the correct circumstances that have been reported, to avoid unnecessary speculation and discussion in the village which could cause upset to the deceased's family and friends: At 11:30pm on Thursday night, at the start of the humorous parade, a 21 year man who was participating in the Pirates troupe fell from a platform. While the exact cause of death is unknown, it is believed that he suffered a heart attack possibly caused by congenital heart problems and diabetes. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon. Our good friend and association liaison, Javier Vidal was a friend of the young man and was with him at the time of the incident. I am sure you will all join me in passing our condolences to Javier and all of the family and friends who have been affected. Kind Regards Ian Pell President |
